In my professional practice course we were given this article on self development. I found it helpful... This is why I came to New Zealand. My comfort zone was my base of friends and family. They made it easy for me to take risks and also gave me reasons not to. In New Zealand I'm on my own. This is a chance for me to jump in the deep end and see how well I can swim-discover my limitations. We have all heard this one before and it's true. You can't ever believe you know everything there is to know about something. I took time to figure out what I need to develop before I reach the professional level and I am taking action to get there. It is no surprise that the library holds a bounty of valuable information, I just wish I had taken advantage of it sooner. Forgive me while I boast. I have about eight books that I've checked out, and this doesn't include the four I returned last week. I have attended two seminars in the past and plan to go to more. I'd like to have some business cards ready when I do! There is a conference coming up in Auckland soon but I'm going to have to skip out due to lack of funds. $150 is a lot to fork over. I tend to learn best when I reciprocate what I know. It reiterates and strengthens what I know and can help my colleagues in the process. I have certainly done this in the past, especially at Housing Design. Maybe I should think about doing it at a professional level. this is a problem of mine. I've been known to backdown in the face of competition before. This is is definitely something I need to work on. I don't know how relevant this is to me since I don't own my own business. Either way, I strive to live a contradiction-free life. I have set forth several goals to accomplish while I'm here, and they are pretty big ones. This step is essential to self development. "different people might perceive us in different ways and there is the right way, and there is the their way." This resinates loudly. Too often, after receiving feedback, I tend to believe I am truly the way a person perceives me. Even if it's not who I am. My experience abroad will strengthen my idea of myself and allow me to better discern various feedback validity.

Sorry for neglecting the blog for so long. I was out to Wellington for the weekend without internet and was unable to update. But now I'm back with lots to blog about and not enough time to do it in B is for _______, that's good enough for me
B is for _______, that's good enough for me B is for _______, that's good enough for me Oh, _______ _______ _______ starts with B! These are the final logos I submitted to the competition... I'll let you folks know who gets chosen and If I get chosen you might not need to go on the internet to hear about it :O!!!!
Here are a few logos I whipped up. I plan to fine tune them tomorrow along with finalizing a mark I've been working on. About a month or two ago Staci and I decided to get pets. We both decided on Sea Monkeys after I expressed my feelings on how unethical Mexican Jumping-beans would be. Alas, we had one survivor. We our proud of our little Sea Monkey but there is one next step we have to do and we'd like your help. We have to name the little guy (Staci and I have deducted that the sea monkey's sex is male based on no logical reasoning other than assumption).
We have a list of a few names and we would like to hear your favorite. The name with the most votes will be the decided title for our handsome creature. here they are Alberto Skeet Zoomie CharlieBrown Alfalfa Porkupine Bobbymungusswimmerfloat (i think Staci came up with this one when she was drunk) Sparky the Fonz Jeff Carpenter the III To help add weight to the votes, please tell your friends about my blog and ask them to share their opinion. Just send them this link: WW.carpenterkiwi.weebly.com Thanks to all those who participated in this round of "Kiwi Lingo". I will be accepting no further guesses on this object because someone has given the correct answer. Ok, I'll probably do a series of these... Hey Mates, A week before I left for New Zealand I received an email requesting a logo. Before you start to think that I'm a big deal for getting unsolicited commissions, I'll tell you that the email was sent out to many design students. The email was very brief and did not give much info. Despite its vagueness I was interested, so I replied with a statement and a PDF of recent logo designs that I have done. |
